Veldkamp Urges Quick Action
Foreign Minister Caspar Veldkamp denounced Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's pledged to allow only limited aid to enter Gaza as "inadequate and flawed." On the social media platform X, Veldkamp explained that the crisis growing in Gaza "needs "massive emergency humanitarian aid right now to prevent mass starvation and mass suffering.

He also called for an immediate ceasefire and the return of all hostages.

Since March the beginning of March, Israel has barred food, water and medicine from entering Gaza. Netanyahu said recently that a "basic amount of food" would be allowed, but without details. He said that this was done under pressure from Israel's friends.

Public and Official Reaction
Some 100,000 people took to the streets in The Hague on Sunday calling on Israel to end what they termed would be genocide in Gaza and for the Dutch government to step in.

But the protest will not lead to a change in the government's diplomatic stance, Veldkamp's spokesman said. Yet the Dutch government thinks that it has sent a strong signal by calling on the European Union to investigate whether Israel is violating the human rights clauses of its agreement with the EU.
