Two 21 and 22-year-old men have died after a violent incident in a Hoofddorp home on Wednesday, May 21. The incident took place on Fanny Blankers -Koenlaan, as police rushed to an emergency call relating to a disturbance in a home there. After receiving a report of the stabbing about 6:05 a.m., officers arrived to find a third-party active stabbing situation.

One Man Shot by Police, the Other Fatally Stabbed
There were Police firing during the clash and two police also sustained injuries. At first, officials said both men had been fatally stabbed. But they were later shot dead by a police officer, according to the Public Prosecution Service.
The other male was fatally stabbed.
As a police weapon was used, the Dutch law requires a formal inquiry conducted by the Rijksrecherche. A photograph from the scene depicted a blood-soaked police car, underscoring the ferocity of the event.
Community "In Disbelief" Over the Tragedy
The deadly scuffle struck a painful chord in the community. Residents and merchants in the community appeared badly shaken. On Thursday, Marianne Schuurmans, the mayor of Haarlemmermeer, visited the scene to lend her support and talk to those affected.
Schuurmans added that she was touched by the kindness of local shop owners who opened their doors to provide shelter. While thanking those who responded to assist in the wake of the tragedy, Hite said she was especially worried about the officers who were injured and the families.
