Dutch Pledge €175M More in Ukraine Aid at NATO Summit

The Dutch government has unveiled a new €175m aid package to assist Ukraine’s defence capabilities with particular emphasis on drone technology. Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans announced the plan on the first day of the NATO summit in The Hague to underline the Netherlands' support for Kyiv in the face of persistent Russian belligerence.

Of the total amount, €80 million would be spent to buy more drones, and the rest would be used for the procurement of radar systems to detect aerial threats and drones to airlift wounded soldiers from forward areas.

Zelenskyy Makes Visit To The Hague, Addresses Dutch Parliament
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is on a visit to the Netherlands to attend high-level talks that include a speech to both houses of Dutch parliament. His appearance takes the place of the usual ministers’ question time and follows two previous visits – before the pandemic in person on 4 May two years ago and then via video link during the pandemic.



He will also be a guest of King Willem-Alexander at a formal dinner later on Tuesday, at Huis ten Bosch palace. U.S.

President Donald Trump and other global leaders will also attend.

Strong Beneath the Political Noise
The announcement has been made in contrast to the collapse of the previous Dutch government – the ruling coalition broke up three weeks ago following the withdrawal of Geert Wilders’ right-wing PVV party.

Although the present cabinet is in a caretaker status, there is still a large majority in parliament for supporting Ukraine.

The new aid package was “crucial,” said Minister Brekelmans, “especially since Russia has stepped up drone attacks .
