Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof has expressed concern about the possibility of Russia preparing for a new war in Europe. Speaking from Oslo during the annual summit of the Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), he said Russia could build up its military capabilities along Northern Europe's borders within the next three years. These comments follow increased Russian military activity near the border with Finland.

Schoof emphasized he does not want to cause panic but urged Europe to remain alert. "It is not certain that a Russian attack will come.
I don't want to scare anyone," he said. However, he stressed that European countries must take joint measures "to prevent that."
Recent developments show that Russia has significantly expanded its military presence near Finland. The country is also constructing new railway lines and upgrading current rail and road systems along the border — changes Schoof called "important" and potentially linked to troop movements and logistics.
