European Sleeper is getting ready to build on its growing network of night trains by introducing two big destinations. The company said it is working on new sleeper services to Barcelona and Milan, with one route expected to be introduced by 2026 and the other by 2027. This news comes as part of the company's second sharefunding round, in which travellers and friends of the company are invited to invest.

The service to Barcelona is already set to be included in the timetable by 2026, but the challenge for European Sleeper is finding carriages. Co-founder Chris Engelsman said they are working with two partners to buy the rolling stock. If everything goes to plan, trains could start running in the second half of 2026.
The train will leave from Brussels, but the company is still working on a way to connect Amsterdam as the departure point to maintain that aspect of a true night train.
Milan or Barcelona First
If the Barcelona project proves to be difficult, European Sleeper will introduce the route to Milan first. The company wants to run both routes, with one starting in 2026 and the other in 2027, but both routes are key to the company's plans.

The Milan service does not yet have a timetable, unlike Barcelona. Engelsman believes this route might be easier to implement since it will be a shorter distance.
The train will leave Amsterdam, go to Brussels, and then into Switzerland. It is working on two possible routes: one through the Simplon Pass, along Lake Maggiore and the second through the Gotthard Pass, near Lake Como.
Support and Future Growth
Both routes to Barcelona and Milan are set to run three times a week.
Dutch officials have also been involved, as the lower house of parliament instructed State Secretary Thierry Aartsen to work with Belgium and France to speed up the .
