FBI and Dutch Police Dismantle Global Cybercrime Network

A major international operation led by Dutch police and the FBI has successfully dismantled the global cybercrime network, Anyproxy, which enabled cybercriminals to carry out a range of illegal activities, such as phishing, deploying ransomware, and stealing data. The operation, named Operation Moonlander, targeted a network of compromised routers spread across homes and small businesses worldwide.

The Malicious Network and Financial Gains

The Anyproxy service allowed criminals to conceal their identities while committing cybercrimes.

Through the use of malware known as
TheMoon, these routers were hijacked to create a botnet that could be controlled remotely, making it difficult for authorities to trace the activities.
