What Prosecutors Say Happened
According to prosecutors, the officer — identified as Walco B. — encountered the victim at a café in IJsselstein while he was off duty. The girl, who was between 16 and 18 years old at the time, was visibly intoxicated.
B. introduced himself as a police officer and offered to drive her home. She accepted, reasonably trusting him because of his profession.
Instead of taking her home, he drove her to a parking area near a McDonald's in Nieuwegein.
What followed, prosecutors allege, was deeply disturbing. The girl was undressed and sexually assaulted in the back seat of a car, despite making it clear she wanted to go home.
She was in no condition to resist or escape. A second suspect, a 47-year-old man with no ties to the police, is also accused of being involved in the assault. Both men were arrested on Friday, October 24, 2025, and have remained in custody since October 27.
The case is scheduled for a full hearing on June 9 at the Utrecht court.
Colleagues Shocked, Dismissal Proceedings Underway
The reaction inside the force has been one of disbelief. By many accounts, Walco B.
was considered a dedicated and hard-working officer — someone known for his commitment to tackling crime within the Midden-Nederland unit, where he held a leadership role. That reputation made the allegations all the harder for colleagues to process. Many who had worke.
