This marks her second Tour title after her breakthrough win in 2023, and she has also finished as the bridesmaid in 2022, 2024, and 2025. For Vollering, though, this victory is just another chapter in what has already been a remarkable year. She's ticked off the Tour of Flanders, La Flèche Wallonne, and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and only recently added her first Giro d'Italia crown to that growing collection.



A Battle Decided on the Final Climb
When the peloton rolled out of Nice for the last stage, Vollering carried a razor-thin cushion of just eight seconds over Poland's Kasia Niewiadoma, who won the Tour back in 2024. Tensions had already been simmering after Niewiadoma took issue with Vollering's French teammate, Célia Gery, blocking her path during Saturday's stage as Vollering made her move.

The route didn't make things easy either, throwing four trips up the Col d'Èze at the riders, with the toughest side saved for the decisive final ascent.

Right from the gun, the climb out of Nice tore the field apart. Lorena Wiebes hung tough through the opening ascent and grabbed the intermediate sprint, locking up the green jersey in the process. Things went sideways for Marlen Reusser, though — the Swiss rider, who'd started the day in third, got shelled on the second climb and then crashed on the way down, costing her a place on the podium entirely.
