The stars of the upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation have been announced by HBO. Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as Harry Potter, Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The news comes after an open casting search last year that produced more than 30,000 auditions.

"We are chomping at the bit to showcase the virtuosity of these three spectacular actors and to share it with the entire world on our global platform," showrunner Francesca Gardiner and executive producer/director Mark Mylod wrote in a joint statement.
The Supporting Cast and Characters Ahmir-Khalib Thompson as The Iceman Jeffrey Whited the random bar singer#1 Jesus Perfuro as Delivery guy Emil Picamiles the Sexaholic Sinjin Dumez the napkin guy Emily Annabeth as Tracey Araceli Chu as Stella Mike Holt as Nick.
There are also a few major characters who are now cast.
John Lithgow has been cast as Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Janet McTeer will play Professor Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu will portray Professor Severus Snape. Nick Frost will play the much-loved groundsman Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon will play Professor Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse has been confirmed to play the caretaker Argus Filch.
Additional casting is expected in the months ahead.
Fresh Faces, Familiar Roles
The three young leads are fresh to the screen. A Scottish actor, McLaughlin will also feature in the forthcoming Sky comedy series Grow and BBC action-adventure series Gifted.
Stanton last appeared in Matilda: The Musical in the West End of London. These new faces will follow in the footsteps of Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint, who, as everyone should k.
