Two people, a 30-year-old man from Hoorn and a-minor were arrested in Amsterdam on Monday, June 30, accused of being involved in murder or manslaughter and unlawful deprivation of freedom leading to the victim's death. Officials said they are in custody under restrictions and are only permitted to meet with their lawyers. They were due to answer to an examining magistrate on Thursday, July 3.

The victim who was kept hostage prior to the fatal fall
Emiel den Hollander was discovered gravely wounded late in the evening on April 16 on a garage roof beneath an apartment on the Osdorper Ban. He was reportedly a hostage in the apartment from sometime around 1:30 p.m. until the moment he fell, approximately 7:00 p.m. His mother later said a ransom was sought at that time.

He was left with extensive injuries including brain and lung damage, a broken neck and ribs, hip and shoulder blades, with a punctured lung. Onlookers reported hearing the impact and called emergency services right away. Den Hollander was put in a coma but died of his injuries on June 19.

Investigation ongoing, more arrests possible
The detentions came after the arrest of a 23-year-old man from Hoorn on May 21. At first, he was charged with unlawful deprivation of liberty causing serious harm and attempted murder or manslaughter. After den Hollander's death, the charges were increased to include murder or manslaughter and unlawful deprivation of liberty causing death. The suspect is still in custody, as his pretrial detention has been extended for 60 days in early June.

Police initially arrested the 60-year-old apartment resident, and prosecutors later tied the 23-year-old to a string of burglaries as well. Investigators are still working to determine whether den Hollander fell while trying to flee or was pushed.

After the event, S10 cancelled a number of live performances including the launch party for her tour in Zwolle and an appearance at the Paaspop festival. The victim was in fact her son and the twin brother of S10, her mother verified.

The investigation is ongoing, and other arrests are a possibility, the Public Prosecution Service said.
