Crash Occurs Shortly After Takeoff
The attack occurred shortly before 4 p.m. The 12-meter-long plane crashed shortly after takeoff, the Essex police said. The flight was bound for Lelystad Airport in the Netherlands. After hours of police, fire brigade and ambulance response, police have made no comment on who the passengers were or if anyone survived.
Police closed off the area around 8:45 p.m. to give emergency services space to work. The police said they would be working at the crash site "overnight and into the morning."
Aircraft Linked to Dutch Aviation Company
The plane was reportedly operated by Zeusch Aviation, a Dutch company that specialises in medical evacuations, organ transport and private flights. As of now, there is no official word on why this specific flight was conducted, and who was on board.
At 9:40 p.m., London Southend Airport said it would be closed until further notice. Passengers due to fly on Monday, July 14, have been instructed to contact their airlines for updated information. The airport also expressed its concerns with everyone involved with the crash and disturbance and pledged to continue to release information as events unfold.
