Trump's Blueprint for Detaining Migrants on a Mass Scale
In January Trump said that he would be sending 30,000 migrants, who came to the United States without documentation, to prison in Guantanamo Bay, calling them "the worst criminal illegal aliens that are threatening American people." The decision has raised concerns given the facility's troubled past.
Since it was opened after the September 11 attacks, Guantanamo Bay has been the focus of long-standing criticism about holding terrorism suspects without trial and allegations of torture. Under previous administrations, including President Joe Biden's, the population was cut to just 15 detainees.
The Dutch government has yet to publicly comment on the reported developments.
