Nearly three-quarters (72%) want to see new elections instead. Many vented their frustration about the political instability, where one respondent commented, "What a mess, all them Dutch polly's at the voting booth for 1.5 year of bickering and no results. But oh well, you've got to do it." Trust in politics has fallen dramatically, especially among right-wing voters. General confidence dropped from 34 to 23 percent. The density of PVV voters' confidence had in that time plummeted from 37 to 13 percent, for VVD voters the confidence declined from 58 to 38 percent and BBB supporters' confidence had fallen from 39 to 17 percent.
In the poll, the Schoof I Cabinet was awarded a final score of 3.6 by voters, which was even lower than another poll (3.8). Even supporters of coalition parties rated it poorly, on average 4.4.
Blame and Reactions to Collapse
The majority (60%) of voters hold the PVV responsible for the collapse of the government. The leader of the PVV, Geert Wilders, is coming under fire from a wide range of politicians, who are calling his behavior "childish" and comparable to "a tantruming toddler." More than three-quarters (76 percent) think Wilders and his party should have tried out the present asylum policy before seeking change – a view held by almost half of PVV voters.
Though 63% of voters are pleased to see the Cabinet go, 62% believe it is irresponsible to bring down the government now, opinion being conditioned by ongoing crises in Gaza and Ukraine, security, housing and the NATO summit in The "While the #NATO summit is underway they are resigning #shameful," one respondent wrote.
Current polls indicate that support for the coalition parties, with the exception of VVD, would erode if elections were called today. The PVV would lose 37 of its seats, the NSC would crumble to just one of its 20 seats and the BBB would slip from seven to three seats. The VVD would add two seats, to reach 26.
