The Netherlands has earned a spot in the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest, with singer Claude delivering a heartfelt performance of his song C'est la Vie. The event, held in Basel, Switzerland, saw 15 countries compete in the first semi-final round, with 10 advancing to the grand final.

Claude's Moving Tribute to His Mother

Claude's performance of C'est la Vie stood out, despite earlier concerns about maintaining vocal control while dancing. The young Dutch artist impressed both the judges and audience, channeling deep emotion into his rendition of the song—an ode to his mother.

"She always taught me that life will not always be easy, but you should always try to see the bright side," Claude shared, reflecting on the song's inspiration.

While there was one slightly off-key moment, Claude's stage presence and emotional delivery resonated with the crowd, helping him secure a place in the finals.

Countries Advancing and Surprise Exits

Alongside the Netherlands, nine other countries made it through the first semi-final: Sweden, Iceland, Poland, Estonia, Ukraine, Portugal, Norway, Albania, and San Marino. Sweden remains the favorite to win, according to bookmakers.

A notable surprise came with Belgium's early exit. Despite being a long-time favorite with the song Strobe Lights by Red Sebastian, Belgium did not advance to the final. Other countries eliminated in this round include Slovenia, Azerbaijan, Croatia, and Cyprus.
