VodafoneZiggo to Cut 400 Jobs in the Netherlands After Revenue Decline

VodafoneZiggo has announced plans to reduce its workforce in the Netherlands by about 400 employees. This decision follows a continued drop in turnover and customer numbers. A spokesperson confirmed the job cuts after earlier reports from nu.nl.

Out of the 400 jobs, around half will be cut through layoffs, while the rest will be lost as a result of expiring contracts or retirement.

The company acknowledged the impact of the move on staff, stating, "We realize that this will have a big impact on our employees, and we are making every effort possible to support all the people involved in a careful, respectful, and transparent way."

However, this reorganization still requires approval from the company's works council before it moves forward.

Last week, VodafoneZiggo reported another drop in turnover and profits for the recent quarter. In addition to losing 40,000 customers, the telecom company also saw a total decrease of about 100,000 internet subscribers in 2024.

To address these challenges, VodafoneZiggo has launched a new strategic plan. The workforce reduction is one of the key parts of that plan.

The company has also simplified its internet offerings by reducing the number of different subscription packages and lowering their prices in hopes of improving overall performance.
