2.4 Million Foreign Tourists Visited the Netherlands in June

Tourism increased noticeably in June. The number of foreign guests in Dutch hotels, holiday parks, campsites and group accommodations was sharply higher in June. This was well above June last year, when 1.9 million foreign visitors were counted. The reading was the highest level since the coronavirus pandemic began.

Foreign guests reserved nearly 7 million overnight stays throughout the country, compared with about 5.5 million during the same month the previous year. The figures do not account for private rentals via platforms like Airbnb.

Reasons Behind the Surge
Experts cite a number of reasons behind the increase. Warmer and sunnier weather than last year prompted more people to hit the road in June. The June position of Pentecost was also a factor, with the long weekend historically a peak time for short holidays and breaks.

Although it remains unknown whether 2025 will be a record-breaking year, others in the tourism industry anticipate more international visits in the next months and years. The outlook is bright, and the number of stays has been climbing steadily.
