Concrete Blocks Damage Cars on A1 in Suspected Sabotage

Several cars were damaged after running into concrete blocks placed on the A1 motorway near Apeldoorn. Authorities suspect the incident may have been deliberate, marking the third such case in the area within a week.

The blocks were found near the De Hucht service station, close to the Veluwe heathland. Officials believe the blocks either fell or were intentionally thrown from a nearby viaduct.

No Camera Footage Available Due to Legal Limits
Although traffic cameras are installed above the motorway, a spokesperson from the transport department explained that the system does not store footage due to legal restrictions. "The cameras are used only for monitoring traffic flow, not for recording," the spokesperson said.

This event follows similar incidents on the A50 motorway, which occurred last Wednesday and again on Saturday. In this latest case, the transport department believes sabotage is likely. "This time it happened on the A1 and we believe it was intentional," the spokesperson added.

Police quickly removed the concrete debris, and the motorway has since reopened. Investigations into all three incidents are ongoing.
