Pervasive Hail and Damage Reported
The storm started at around 6 p.m. with two-centimeter hail falling in Maasbracht and Echt. The storm strengthened as it moved northeast. Cars in Belfeld had dents on their roofs, while car windows in Venlo were smashed by the biggest hail stones. Melick, Tegelen and Reuver residents also had to deal with a lot of destruction due to the heavy hail.

Street flooding was reported in Herkenbosch on Van der Landelaan, as the fire department responded to the incient. In other towns in Roerdalen, like Sint Odiliënberg and Melick, the torrent of water flooded houses and streets. Cars in the region were pummeled by hailstones falling from the sky.

Cancelled Events, Storm Warnings
In Horst, near by, emergency personnel were scrambling to pump water out of cellars around 9 p.m. The storm forced the organisers of EGOpop festival in the nearby village of Egchel to halt that event temporarily. The show restarted about 30 minute later as conditions improved.

Video posted by Buienradar showed the hail pounding parked cars in Venlo, setting off car alarms and causing evident damage.

Meteo Limburg also warned that severe weather could continue until later on Monday, with a thunderstorm possible as well as heavy rainfall and strong winds in other regions, including areas of Noord-Brabant, Gelderland and Overijssel.
