H. did not attend the court hearing on Thursday and was not obliged to do so. His lawyer indicated that he is in a state of permanent fear and stress, as no one wants to talk to him due to the court process and the adversity from the community. In a letter to the court, H. stated that he has lost his job and his passion, having dedicated his life to football; however, he now understands that he cannot be involved in football again.
Details of the Incident
The incident began on a Saturday evening when H. contacted the girl by WhatsApp regarding a training session. Their conversation moved quickly to inappropriate topics, and according to the prosecutor, he asked her what she thought of his age and whether she wanted to kiss him.
The girl tried to show she was uncomfortable, stating she was in an "ugly, thick pyjama," however, H. proceeded with sexual comments, requesting a video call. The two agreed to erase the conversation, but the girl recorded a video while scrolling through the messages and delivered it to the police.
About the Victim and Court Proceedings
The victim did not charge Marc H.; however, she later reported that she was uncomfortable and chose to stop training. Even though there was no official complaint, the prosecutor decided to pursue charges, emphasising that the matter is serious.
The Arnhem court is expected to disclose its verdict on October 16.
