Dutch Fast Food Spending Hits €1.9 Billion

In 2024, the Dutch population has spent €1.9 billion at major fast food chains. Customers spent a mean of €23 per visit and sushi restaurants had the highest per customer spending, according to a large scale study involving close to 7,200 people.


SushiPoint came out on top, with visitors spending €50 on average, closely followed by Mr. Sushi at €49. Spare Rib Express came third at €39 per order, with New York Pizza and Domino's Pizza behind them at €27 and €24 respectively.

Most Affordable and Popular Options
Some of the cheapest options for fast food included Smullers with an average of €7, The Döner Company €11, and FEBO €12. The spots were also the cheapest for a meal on average as versus sushi or pizza chains.

Spending patterns also differed among age groups. The biggest spenders were found to be those aged between 35 and 49, who spent an average of €26 per visit. The younger 18 to 34 age group spent an average of €22, while over 50s spent the least at fast food outlets – on average €20 per visit.
