Slow Start, Strong Comeback
Both players got off to rough starts, exchanging breaks in their opening two service games. Osorio was the first to hold, and she went ahead, 3-2. The home support of the packed colombian crowd seemed to motivate Osorio, who played with more consistency, while she had five break points on Rus' serve. But Rus survived and held for 3-3.

Osorio took control and won the first set 6-4 after Rus netted a shot at set point up.

Rus Finds Her Rhythm
Rus played much better in the second set. She broke Osorio in the third game, and then again at 4-2, committing far fewer unforced errors and enjoying more dominant service games. The 34-year-old Dutchwoman closed out the set 6-2 to make a deciding third.

Tense Decider
Rus continued to be on the attack at the start of the third set, breaking Osorio in the third game. But a double fault lost her the lead in the sixth game, and Osorio joined the score at 3-3. Both players then exchanged breaks of serve again to level things at 4-4.

Rus then broke again to go ahead, 5-4, and served for the match. Although there was some late resistance from Osorio, Rus capitalized on her first match point to claim victory and advance to round two.
